Chris Peay of Carter Financial Management

Chris Peay

Branch Associate, Carter Financial Management

Chris Peay serves as a Branch Associate for Carter Financial Management, where he has been a key part of the firm’s operational infrastructure since 2002. With over two decades of experience in IT systems and business technology, Chris plays a central role in ensuring the firm’s technology is secure, efficient, and scalable to meet client and team needs. He oversees day-to-day network management, cybersecurity, contingency planning, and system integration—keeping Carter Financial at the forefront of technology in the financial services industry.

Chris’s journey with Carter Financial began when the firm relocated to the Merit building. Tasked with managing a shared technology setup for multiple co-officing businesses, Chris successfully designed and implemented network, internet, and phone solutions that supported all three companies. His leadership during this complex migration led to increased demand for his services and ultimately sparked the creation of CPTech, LLC—an independent IT consulting firm founded in 2006 in partnership with Carter Financial’s founder, Bill Carter. Through CPTech, Chris continues to support other small and mid-size businesses across Dallas–Fort Worth, while maintaining his primary role and dedication to Carter Financial.

He currently chairs both the Technology Committee and the Contingency Plan Committee at Carter Financial Management, guiding the firm’s strategy around innovation, business continuity, and cybersecurity preparedness.

Chris earned his MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management and graduated summa cum laude from DeVry University with a degree in Telecommunications Management. His technical skills are grounded in real-world experience, dating back to his early career as a systems builder and support specialist. Whether designing networks, troubleshooting advanced WAN systems, or leading complex migrations, Chris approaches every challenge with a calm, thoughtful mindset and a dedication to long-term solutions.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and children, such as gardening, hunting, traveling, fishing, and playing sports. He is actively involved in his local church and community, and volunteers at Wings of Hope, an equestrian therapy center for children with disabilities, as much as possible.
